Epic Kids Program
Since the beginning, “The Museum Of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden” – MACAAL – offers an exclusive educational program, which includes workshops inspired by current exhibitions.
Giving children the opportunity to explore and learn about visual art. As the artistic partner of EPIC yoga festival, MACAAL will be arranging a special exhibition and workshop program for the mini-festival-goers. The EPIC Kid gatherings run by the MACAAL, will be held at the “Al Maaden” on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of June from 8am to 11am.

Besides the exciting Fusion Yoga masterclasses, performances and sensoriel experiences, EPIC yoga festival will be holding an artistic and educational program which will take place in two beautiful locations:
– The MACAAL (M): Guided exhibition tours and meditation based activities.
– The Club House (C) : A Creative artistic workshop.
Exhibition MATERIAL INSANITY
Exhibiting over thirty artists from Africa! “Material Insanity” explores arts and materials and their symbolic scope, through which they participate in creating different mediums, perspectives and experiences.
With installations created from common objects and local materials, the exhibition gathers a dynamic creative expressionism, all serving an innovative and ethical role.
A guided and interactive forty five minutes visit – with a 15 minute mini break.

Exhibition “TERRIAN VAGUE” by Nicolas Henry
For the past 15 years, Nicolas Henry has been creating stage acts for his itinerary theater, inspired by his encounters in the sixty countries he has visited around the world.
His photography subjects speak up and inspire the community making them feel seem like the kings and queens of their day. The installation gathers old frames and baroque style artwork with frames which he created from the spare MACAAL construction material

CLUB HOUSE: near the master classes
The guide will take place at the Club House which is located 100 meters away from the Masterclass location. The space is dedicated to creative and manual workshops, which will be held during an exhibition and presenting: figurative and colorful paintings typically from Essaouira’s school “Colored Dream”, this space will host three workshops which will include: African Origami, Mandala drawing and Arts & Nature.
African origami workshop: (limited to 15 children)
Delicate and subtle art from Japan, Origami means “The art of folding paper” in Japanese. Children will be invited to work on different projects, gathering African shapes, colors and images.
Animandala workshop: (limited to 15 Children)
A creative workshop, working with circular and geometrical constructions and shapes evolving around a center point, mandalas expand from their centers through different axes. Mandala drawing is not only a creative experience, but a therapeutic one.
Compositions Art and nature: (to 15 children)
The art of creating compositions made from floral and mineral elements taken from Al Maaden land specifically for the children.
